It's not just the love stories that make these movies so satisfying to watch, the jewellery is equally as pleasing! We've compiled a list of some of the most memorable pieces from some of our favourite romantic comedies and we even have some recommendations for you if you're looking to add a similar look to your own jewellery collection.

So, whether you're looking to add some sparkle to your Valentine's Day or just want to channel your inner rom-com heroine, we've got you covered.

Devil wears Prada

In 2006’s “The Devil Wears Prada”, Anne Hathaway portrays Andrea Sachs, a recent college graduate who lands a job as an assistant to powerful and demanding fashion magazine editor, Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep). While Andy tries to navigate the challenges of her new job while balancing a relationship, her character undergoes a phenomenal character development as we watch her journey unfold.

The evolution of her wardrobe is a subtle nod to Andrea's inner transformation which featured some fabulous jewellery! Who can forget Andy’s iconic layered Chanel necklace. The necklace is quite the statement piece as it features a long string of pearls, layered with a smaller strand and decorative Chanel charms. If you’re looking to recreate this look but the chunky charms might not be for you, you can still achieve a similar look by layering different lengths and sizes of pearl necklaces.

The iconic Meryl Streep who portrays fashion editor, Miranda Priestly, is seen multiple times throughout the film wearing hoop earring in a variety of styles. It’s safe to assume hoop earrings are her go to accessory and we couldn’t agree more! Hoop earrings are expected to be back in style this year as mentioned in our previous blog discussing New Year’s trends. The timeless accessory is a staple must have to have in your jewellery collection due to the versatility of style. Dress them up or dress them down for more of a casual look.

Main in Manhattan

When hotel maid, Marisa Ventura, played by the queen of romantic comedies herself Jennifer Lopez, is mistaken for a wealthy socialite by a high-profile guest, Christopher Marshall (Ralph Fiennes), Marisa learns about the importance of self-worth and the power of love to overcome any obstacle.

In what we think is the most memorable scene from the film Marisa arrives at the Met party wearing an unforgettable strapless peach chiffon gown. The stunning ensemble was accessorised with a beautiful diamond wreath necklace designed by Harry Winston.

 Bride Wars

In the light-hearted romantic comedy, Bride Wars, starring Anne Hathaway and Kate Hudson, this rom-com will be sure to make you laugh and appreciate the importance of true friendship. The film tells the story of Liv and Emma, two best friends since childhood who have always dreamed of having the perfect fairy tale wedding who later become bitter rivals as they compete for the perfect dress, the perfect flowers, and the perfect wedding.

Anyone else still dreaming about the impressive engagement rings best friends Emma and Liv were proposed with? We certainly are! If either of their rings happen to be your dream engagement rings, we happen to have similar styles available.

After discovering a little blue Tiffany’s box in her apartment, Liv rushes to her boyfriend Daniel’s office where she asks him to hurry up and propose already. He then popping the question with the 5-carat Tiffany Novo cushion cut engagement ring. We currently have a cushion cut engagement ring just as impressive as Livs.

Our 3.51ct modified cushion-cut diamond set in a double four claw platinum mount with graduated diamond set shoulders. The modified cushion-cut diamond is a unique take on the classic cushion cut, giving it an added dimension of sparkle and fire. The double four claw setting securely holds the diamond in place and allows maximum light to shine through while highlighting the diamond's natural beauty. The graduated diamond set shoulders add an extra touch of elegance and sophistication, making it a dreamy engagement ring that you must have.

In a scene where Emma calls her best friend Liv to tell her she's engaged; Liv quickly asks for her ring details. “Colour? - colourless. Cut? - brilliant. Clarity? - slightly included. Carat? - Almost, maybe just under.” Round brilliant engagement rings are one of the most popular styles that are timeless and universally flattering on everyone. Here at Powells Fine Jewellery we offer a wide selection of round brilliant engagement rings in a variety of styles. Click here to view our selection of engagement rings.

Crazy Rich Asians

On the same topic of engagement rings, the ring featured in Crazy Rich Asians is truly remarkable. In the film, Nick (Henry Goulding) proposes to girlfriend Rachel (Constance Wu), with a 4 carat emerald ring, flanked by a pair of colourless pear shaped moissanite that belonged to his mother  Eleanor (Michelle Yeoh). Jon Chu, the director of the film noted he felt the green of emeralds were regal and strong like  Eleanor, the hard to please mother-in-law.

We recently worked with one of our clients to design a bespoke ring that happens to look quite like the ring featured in the film. If you’re looking to create a truly unique piece for yourself, our experienced and friendly in-house team are here to help guide you through each step of the process, assisting you with the creation of your unique handmade jewel.  How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days

In the classic film "How to lose a guy in 10 Days" starring Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey, journalist Andie (Hudson) takes on a challenge to write an article on how to make a man break up with you in 10 days. Meanwhile, a successful advertiser Ben (McConaughey) takes a bet that he can make a woman fall in love with him in 10 days.

The  “Frost Yourself” scene is is a standout moment for Kate Hudson's character Andie, who steals the show with her stunning jewellery. The centrepiece of her yellow satin gown is the Isadora necklace, a breath-taking piece of jewellery that features an 84ct yellow diamond. To complement the necklace, Andie pairs it with a pair of radiant cut yellow diamond stud earrings, each weighing 5ct. The earrings add an extra touch of sparkle and perfectly balance the necklace. Together, the necklace and earrings create a truly breath-taking look that is sure to be remembered.
